How and When to use the Recovery Phrase?

:warning: If you’ve lost access to your SwissBorg account and,

  • Your only device where the app was installed, is lost/stolen/broken

  • You changed your phone number (and lost access to the old one)

  • You lost/forgot your pin code

  • You didn’t activate your Recovery Phrase

  • You lost your Recovery Phrase

  • Your Recovery Phrase doesn't work or lead to an error message

This article will NOT help you to recover your account.

What is a Recovery Phrase?

The recovery phrase is a set of 12 words that:

  • allows you to recover your account on the same device, with the same phone number, already authorized to access your account.

  • lets you install the app and regain access to your account, on a secondary device with the same phone number.

How to Activate (or Revoke) your Recovery Phrase:

  1. Go to Profile > Security > Recovery Phrase

  2. Activate (or Revoke) your Recovery Phrase

  3. Note the 12 words on a piece of paper (NO digital copies: No picture, No text format document, No e-mail sent to yourself…)

  4. Put the words in the right order as required by our verification interface.

  5. Your Recovery Phrase is set and ready to be used.

How to recover your account with the Recovery Phrase:

  1. Install the SwissBorg app on your device

  2. Enter the phone number registered with your SwissBorg account

  3. Enter the SMS code you receive on your phone

  4. Choose Recovery with Recovery Phrase

  5. Enter the 12 words, no caps, a space between each word.

  6. Your account is recovered

NOTES

  • After the Recovery with Phrase, in order to protect our users' fund, an automatic 24-hour security delay will apply before you can withdraw any assets. We cannot shorten this delay.

  • Only you have access to your 12-word Recovery Phrase, including its activation and its removal. SwissBorg doesn’t have access to your Recovery Phrase and can’t retrieve it on your behalf.

  • Your Recovery Phrase should be stored on a piece of paper in a place accessible and known only to you. Don’t share it for any reason. This is the key to your funds.

  • A SwissBorg employee will NEVER ask you to reveal your Recovery Phrase, under any circumstance. Should an individual contact you and request your Recovery Phrase, or show curiosity about it, please report it to our Support team immediately. By doing this, you will greatly help to protect our community.
